A reissue rate is a reduction in title premium that is applied to an owner's policy in a purchase transaction if the property is determined to have had a prior title policy within a give period of time (reissue term). In Colorado the typical reissue term for for a reissue rate is 5 years. Most title insurance companies in Colorado provide this discount regardless of the title company that issued the previous policy.

Typical Reissue Rate Discount Scale

  • Sold or refinanced within the last year - 50% discount
  • Sold or refinanced within 2 years - 40% discount
  • Sold or refinanced within 3 years - 30% discount
  • Sold or refinanced within 4 years - 20% discount
  • Sold or refinanced within 5 year - 10% discount

Example Reissue Rate on a purchase transaction:

  1. Purchase Price $200,000 = $1,222 basic rate
  2. Property was refinanced 14 months ago = 40% discount
  3. Reissue Rate Title Premium = $733
